When you work with a Realtor®, you gain many advantages over those who do not. Buying or selling a home is typically the single largest financial transaction of your life, and you need a trusted and professional Realtor® on your side to help you every step of the way. Realtors® are more than real estate agents; they are members of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and have committed to abide by a strict code of ethics. What is the NAR Realtor® Code of Ethics?
The code of ethics is the group of core principals Realtors® abide by in order to guarantee fair dealings with clients, the public and other Realtors®. The code includes the commitment to protect and promote the clients' interests while at the same time treating all parties fairly. Realtors® are not to exaggerate, misrepresent or conceal important facts related to properties or transactions. They also must cooperate with other real estate professionals while protecting their clients' best interests. When they buy or sell on their own or for their families or firms, they are obliged to make their true position or interest known.
Realtors® give equal professional service to all clients and customers regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin or sexual orientation. They are always to paint a true picture of a property in their advertising, marketing and other representations and only make truthful, objective comments about other real estate professionals.
